Artists In Mind
Stephen
The title in the top left hand corner is ‘David and Goliath’. There are two enemy soldiers with shields in their hands, and across the brook is David with his catapult. He’s reaching into his bag of stones with his left hand, and behind him are his Israelite soldier colleagues.
I’m quite pleased with the way it’s turned out. I’ve just done it out of my mind. There’s the river running through the valley, with the mountain ranges on either side. I think the tree give it that extra bit of relief and brings the characters out. I’m pleased with that.
I’ve liked doing the work. Having had health problems, the work has been quite therapeutic. Also the social aspect, mixing with the other artists and staff here, It’s been good all round really, I would say.
In the future I’d set my sights on doing a teacher training course through TEFAL. I do have the intention - the desire to travel round Europe using the languages, which I’d studied for in the past, and learn to speak them fluently. A year or two back I got an ‘O’ level in Spanish and Italian, and just this last year I’ve done ‘A’ level Spanish and Italian at technical college, as well as having some good qualifications in French and German.
