Artists In Mind
Stephanie
It was at Memorial Park, which is why I called it ‘Memorial Pond’. With the Celtic symbol it reminded me of spirituality, the symbol of eternity and eternal love, and with their being two ducks I felt they were like a couple and they were eternally linked so that’s basically what it’s all about.
A lot of the time I’ve been housebound because of my disability, and A.I.M. has been a great way to meet people and be part of a community. I have so much art direction from an art mentor as well. She’s helped me enormously; she’s bridged the gap between being at home and struggling to produce artwork, and being part of a community and doing artwork and being successful.
I do struggle with my mental health and A.I.M has been a great stabilizing factor. It’s a great therapeutic environment for me to be myself and produce my own artwork and have control over the work I’m producing. I’m hoping to produce a solo exhibition in September and move into art galleries in the next few years.
I would like to stay in contact with A.I.M. because I know how it has helped me and I would like to help other people in the same way it’s helped me.
