Artists In Mind
Karen
I’ve only been here two weeks and they had a workshop before I came. Everybody joined in, and did a painting with rollers, fingers – I think that tree looks like it was done with fingers. Lots of different materials - just to see how they could do something using whatever colours they wanted. I was given the job of tidying up all the squares and adding them all together to make a wall hanging. I’m edging it in the blue, I’m going to put edging around the artists in mind so you see it better and I’m going to put in other colours across the top and it’s going on a pole to hang from the wall.
It’s part of my training to be a better psychiatric nurse - to have better understanding. Learning about places like this is one step further towards keeping people well and keeping them out of hospital and relapse prevention.
That is what modern day nursing is about – keeping people in the community.
