Miners - 25 Years On
2009 is the 25th anniversary of the 1984 - 85 miners' strike. It began in March as a reaction to government plans for pit closures and involved around 180,000 men. The dispute started when the Conservative government announced the closure of Cortonwood Colliery.
This project documents the sites of former collieries in Yorkshire which closed in the aftermath of the strike.
The men worked at the pits and are pictured at the location of the original pit yard.
The body of work is now available in book form - '25 Years On' online via www.blurb.com
